Constructed in 1871 as a private summer residence by Edward A. Warne, a wealthy Philadelphia entrepreneur, The Mason Cottage is endowed with lofty ceilings, full-length windows and a sweeping veranda, all so characteristic of Victorian homes of the period. Much of the furniture in the inn belonged to the Warne family and has been carefully restored.
The house, located in the heart of Cape May's historic district and one block from the beautiful ocean shore, was purchased by the Mason Family in the mid 1940s and has been welcoming guests since that time. The current owners -- only the third family to own this 137-year-old property -- acquired this spectacular home in 2003. The same charm and friendly atmosphere created in more than 60 years of guest operation continues in full force, with a few new special touches we hope you'll enjoy.
