#7 Watch the Sunset on the Delaware Bay in North Cape May
Sunsets on the Delaware Bay are Amazing! The best part is that these beaches, unlike the beaches in downtown Cape May, are not crowded. It is likely that you will be one of only a few people on these beaches, which adds to its romantic appeal.
How to get to a great spot: Take a drive out to Harpoons on the Bay at 91 Beach Drive, North Cape May (bring a blanket). Have a drink and then walk across the street, throw out your blanket and watch the sunset. You can also watch the sunset at Sunset Beach (it will be more crowded) or at the Cape May Lighthouse.
I promise its beautiful!
#6 Dine at one of the Most Romantic Cape May Restaurants
Cape May is no stranger to amazing restaurants, from great seafood spots to incredible Mediterranean cuisine, there is a spot for every taste and budget. When it comes to romantic spots, Cape May has plenty of those as well. Here is our list of Best Romantic Restaurants in Cape May:
Peter Shields Restaurant - Voted time after time, the 'Most Romantic'
The Washington Inn, Romantic with exceptional food.
Union Park, Romantic, as well as exceptional food.
Georges - It's not fancy (or expensive, plus its a BYOB), but if you are looking for something quaint, laid back, with great food, then this is your place. OPAH!
#5 Explore the Quaint streets in the Downtown, Historic District
In my opinion, one of the most romantic streets to stroll along in Cape May, hand-in-hand, is Hughes Street (from Ocean to Franklin Streets, or vice versa). There is something about Hughes street that exudes romance - While it's right in the heart of downtown Cape May, it is one of the most 'off-the-beaten-path' streets in town - there are no commercial properties or businesses along this street, just quaint Victorian cottages (dating back to the 1800's), with beautiful gardens, nestled along a tree-lined street.
Another option (other than by foot) is to explore this seaside town by bicycle. The Mason Cottage Inn offers complimentary bicycles to its guests. Couples can get lost in the back streets of Cape May - where there's NO agenda & NO time-frame.
#4 Spoil Her with something Special (Lingerie or Maybe a One of a Kind Engagement Ring)
There is some fantastic shopping in Cape May - great boutique shops offering unusual items that you won't see everywhere else. For a more romantic shopping expedition, couples can check out Lace Silhouettes on the Washington Mall, which offers high-end bra's, panties and lingerie.
Are you a couple looking to get engaged? Victorious in Cape May offers one-of-a-kind engagement rings that are as unique and special as she is. Jennifer Tozer, a G.I.A Graduate Gemologist, is on location to help you find the most amazingly perfect ring!
#3 Stay at a Romantic Cape May Bed & Breakfast Inn | Spa Suite | Jacuzzi
A world away from the everyday, The Mason Cottage Bed and Breakfast Inn creates the time and space needed for you to rediscover the meaning of romance. You will be well taken care of by their attentive yet discreet hospitality.
The Mason Cottage is located in the downtown, historic district and is Open All Year. The Inn features nine lovely, antique appointed suites/rooms, all with private, en-suite baths. The Grand Mason Suite [the only suite of its kind] is your 'home away from home' - this expansive 400 Sq. Ft Suite, features a private living room, kitchenette and en-suite bath with 2 person shower. The Mason Cottage also has several Jacuzzi and Fireplace suites; perfect for your romantic Cape May Getaway.
#2 Act like a 'Kid' Again - Did someone say Skee-Ball? Miniature Golf?
Life can get so serious sometimes! Pressures at work, health issues, family and financial obligations can get so overwhelming! Wouldn't it be nice to put all that 'stuff' out of your mind for a few hours and just act like a kid again? Where there's no talk about the boss, finances or that annoying co-worker.
Here's my list of romantic, budget-friendly, things for couples to do (to bring out the kid in you):
Play a few rounds of Skee-Ball at the Family Fun Arcade on the Promenade (Seasonally)
Check out Cape May Miniature Golf (Open Daily, Weather Permitting)
Visit the Cape May County Zoo (Open Daily and it's FREE, Donations Appreciated). This is one of the coolest small town zoos I have ever visited.
Roller Skating at the Cape May Convention Center, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, starting December 14th 2018 thru Mid-March 2019.
#1 Tour Downtown Cape May on a Private, Horse Drawn Carriage
Is there anything more romantic than a private tour of Cape May on a horse-drawn carriage? The Cape May Carriage Company has been offering historic Cape May tours since 1982. Couples can reserve a private carriage rides throughout the year from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM (weather conditions permitting)
